Created Mastheads

I have created three different Mastheads from the information I learnt from my Masthead research. After looking at these, I will choose my favorite one.

First MastheadOn the left is the first Masthead I have created. I decided to use the three main colours of red black and white. I got influenced by the mastheads I had previously researched. XXL and also NME contain colours along this scheme so I decided to follow the trend. What makes this Masthead unique is that the word “Fish” is in the shape of an actual fish. Similarly with the NME masthead looking like a book. The colour is really bold and the text is striking. Just like the magazines I have researched, I decided to do a bold and vibrant logo.

Second Masthead

The second Masthead I have created is mainly about focusing on what the magazine is about. For example I used a microphone instead of the letter “I” to connote that the publication is about music and Hip-Hop. Also, I decided to put gold and silver text. The reason being is because the Hip-Hop generation focuses on wealth and looking rich a lot, thereby I believe that this gives the viewer an insight to what the artists within the genre are about. Also, I included bold text because I learnt that many magazines use bold text in order to catch peoples eyes.

Third MastheadThis is the third and final Masthead I have created. The text is really bold and appeals to the viewer. I also decided to include a few conventions which allow people to notice what the logo is trying to promote. The microphone top is placed onto the letter “I” similarly with my second Masthead. I also included some headphones which wrap around the main text. This can almost show a sense of a circle where all information relies within.
