7)Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt from the progression from it to your full product?

Overview

Since our preliminary task we have learnt many new skill making our preliminary task look juvenile.

Preliminary

For our preliminary task we were given a set task meaning we had less space to work with, less creativity with our script and less pressure since it didnt not have to be as long as the opening. It was less pressured since we didnt have to worry about editing.

Editing

Editing was a large part of our opening since we used numerous shots, had to add music and add filters to make it atmospheric which we didnt have to do for our preliminary making it a lot better than the preliminary. We didnt know how hard editing would be, but now we have learnt that since our preliminary.

Script

Another thing that was immensely different from our preliminary and our opening was we had to create our script. Our script for our opening had to be changed numerous times before we recorded and after we recorded; however for our preliminary we only made slight adjustments. We have learnt how hard it would be to be a writer for a full scale movie.

We also had to think were the perfect locations for our movie would take place unlike our preliminary were we had only one location. Since we used a wide open location we had to change the storyboard because we didnt know the location that well and new idea popped into our heads. By making our planning flexible we did waste recording time but it helped add quality to the film.

Whereas we knew the location in our preliminary meaning there was less flexibility in our shots.

Group work

Unlike our preliminary we had an extra member to the group. In our new group I was working with the same people as before and someone I hadnt worked with before. With an extra member we had new ideas and more feedback on ideas. However, our preliminary task was more forced with no feedback. Also it seemed quicker with a new member when we were editing.

Genre

In our preliminary task there was no genre, on the other hand we had to select one for our opening meaning we had to look at the codes and conventions from other horrors movies helpingus narrow down ideas.
