• The genre is DRAMA

The purpose of drama genres

• The purpose of the drama genre is to allow the audience to become emotionally attached to the film and the characters.

Audience

• The main type of audience for the drama genre is usually 16+ and usually more females

• This is because drama films are a genre that relies on the emotional and relational development of realistic characters.

There is always a situation near the middle of the film where the audience feel the emotions and tension

The denotation is that Christopher and his son are looking at each other

The connotation is that Christopher's son is looking UP to him to show that his dad is his idol

The camera is taking at a low shot to make Christopher appear bigger to show the audience that he is his sons idol and who his son looks up too

The denotation is that Christopher has completed the rubix cube

The connotation is that the white American was stereotypically labelling the African American as he doubted that Christopher could complete the rubix cube His facial reaction

shows the doubts that he had

They do not live off benefits the dad works hard to show and educate the son that he should never give up.

Single male parent X We are used to seeing single female parents but very unlikely do we see single male parents. Especially ones that do a good job in raising their children .

Homelessness in the 21st century

XHomeless people do still exists in the 21st century as we can see that both Christopher and his son become homeless with no help

X This also represents that they do not receive any help so that they can have a shelter therefore they have to face reality alone
