Casting

Picking The Cast

Having looked at the casting in other psychological thriller movies, I have noticed that it somewhat reflects the intended audience (white males are the most common protagonist, for example).

I have kept this in mind whilst choosing my own cast.

Major Characters

The Man - Specification

The Man is intended to be mysterious to audiences; they learn more about him as the movie progresses. This will be reflected in the trailer and ancillary tasks and, thus, must also be reflected in my casting.

The Man

I have chosen Simon Pepper to portray the main character.

Simon is 23 years old and male – he would fit into my target audience, therefore making him easier for audiences to relate to.

As I want the main character to have a dark and mysterious look, Simon fits the physical requirements; pale skin, long black hair, tall and thin – these traits are unconventional and different, which catches the eye.

The Watcher (Character)

The Watcher, like the man, is a mysterious entity. Most extroverted than the man, The Watcher’s appearance will have to reflect his pro-active, sinister nature.

I have chosen Stephen Claxton to portray the Watcher character.

A 26 year old male, Steve is in a similar age range to my target audience, making him easier for the audience to relate to.

I have chosen Steve to play this role as he will provide a visual contrast with ‘The Man’. He can also looks somewhat intimidating, which I want in my character.

Minor Characters

Criminals

The criminals are to be briefly portrayed by Ashley Quinton and Jamie Read, two males also in the age range of my target audience.

Family

The man’s family are to be portrayed by members of my own family; my mum and cousin have agreed to play these roles. One of my friends has agreed to play the role of the man’s murdered wife.
