CHARACTERS/COSTUMES FOR OUR SHORT FILM!

Group 3

Character 1 – Joe (the killer) This is the main character of the short film.

He is referred to as Joe.

In the past section of the movie he is aged 17. In the present section of the movie he is aged 20.

In the past he was participating in gang violence. His gang were often violent in contrast to the other gangs. He kills character 2 but didn’t get arrested because there wasn’t enough evidence

In the present section of the movie we see him as a changed man. Who is wanting to get into university.

From our research in social realism short films we learnt that main characters usually do have problems with their life. For example Rhys and Aminul looked in ‘The Black Hole’ where the main character was stressed out of working so much.

Character 2 – Robert (the victim) This character will only feature in the

past section of the film. This is character that Joe will kill.

He is aged is 17 as well.

He is part of a rival gang in the local area.

The victim is killed as part of hate crime.

Character 3 – Girlfriend

This character will be the girlfriend of the killer, Joe.

She is aware that he killed in the past.

Also, she is very cautious about the killer rejoining gang violence. She wants Joe to continue education.

Character 4 – Brother of the victim. This character is the sibling of

character 2. He is the victims brother.

He finds out that character 1 has killed his brother in the present time after 3 or so years. The police did not carry this case because there was not enough evidence to arrest Joe.

He will stab Joe at the end of the movie.

Costumes

In the past section of the film all character are going to be wearing track suits or brands such as Nike or Adidas since teens are stereotypically always wearing these type of clothing.

In the present section of the film the killer (Joe) will wear more casual clothing to show he is trying to mature. The girlfriend will also be wearing casual clothing to imply that her and Joe are a developed couple. The brother will still wear the clothing listed above; his clothing should represent how teens are like thugs to the audience.

We all watched ‘Soft’ and the teenagers wore track suits and clearly it made menace to society and they looked like they created a negative affect to society. So we thought we can reflect this into our short film.
