Once upon a time there lived in a town a gir that was known by the name of Cinderella, because her stepmother foreced her to stay always in the kitchen among the cinders of the hearth.

One day, a ball was to be given at the palace so that the King´s son might choosen himself a bride. Cinderella wanted to go but had no ball-dress to wear.

She was very sad and could not help weeping as she sat in a corner of the kitchen. But suddenly a Fairy Godmother appeared and chanting some magic words threw a dress embroidered with gold down to her and gave her a pair of slippers made of crystal.

But the Fairy Godmother warned her that the magic would last till midnight. Cinderella put on the dress and went to the ball.

As she looked so beautifull , the Prince danced with her all night.

When the last stroke of midnight sounded, Cinderella flew down the stairs of the palace, but in her haste one of her crystal slippers fell off.

The following day the Prince, who had fallen in love with the young lady, began to try on the slipper to every young lady in town. But ir fitted no one: to some ladies it eas small;to others, big. Her stepsisters and mother let her in the kitchen so she could not try the slipper.

Only to Cinderella did the slipper fit perfectly. And this is how she and the Prince got married and were very happy.
