Research

I researched costuming in psychological thrillers by looking at relevant movies; these movies were Dead Man’s Shoes, Funny Games and Jacob’s Ladder.

Costumes in these movies were all casual, with the exceptions of the antagonists in Funny Games who dress in a fashion referencing the characters in Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange. There is also a scene in which a character dresses in a boiler suit and gas mask to intimidate his victims.

Additionally, there is the use of make up and prosthetics in Jacob’s Ladder to make figures in the titular characters visions appear terrifying.

Planning Costumes

I have sketched out my planned costumes so that I may reference my ideas when searching for the necessary clothing.

There is the possibility that my ideas may change, so the plans are there to ensure that I do not go too far from the original concept.

I have taken into account the understated and stylised costumes that other psychological thrillers have used.
