This music video is a narrative because it

shows the story of a ‘nerd’ taking out a pretty

girl on a date and then loosing her. The main

character ‘breaks out’ from his usual lifestyle

when he gets angry with himself. In this

opening scene of the music video, the main

character is introduced driving up to a house.

Before he gets out the car he looks at himself in

the wing mirror and gives a goofy wink. This

establishes the character as a ‘nerd’ or ‘un

cool’.

the movie ‘Me

Irene’.

Here there is a close up on the

main characters two

personalities. The main character

is played by Dave Grohl, who is

the lead singer of the Foo

Fighters. These close up shots

may have been used to promote

the bands image

In this scene another ‘cool’ character is

introduced who is played by another band

member: Tayler Hawkins. The Genre of

music is reflected in what Tayler is wearing

because he looks very much like a rock

star with his blonde hair and band t-shirt

other personality that does not want to

be a ‘nerd’ but would rather be a rock
