Background of Hip-Hop.Hip hop music, also called hip-hop, rap music, or hip-hop music is a music genre consisting of a stylized rhythmic music that commonly accompanies rapping, a rhythmic and rhyming speech that is chanted.

Hip hop as music and culture formed during the 1970s when block parties became increasingly popular in New York City, particularly among African American youth residing in the Bronx.

West Coast Hip Hop

East Coast hip hop is a regional subgenre of hip hop music that originated in New York City, USA during the 1970s. Hip hop is recognized to have originated and evolved first in the East Coast.

The style in the East Coast emerged as a definitive subgenre after artists from other regions of the United States emerged with different styles.

A form of hip hop music that combines the elements of Jamaican dancehall toasting with the rhythms of R&B, disco and funk along with soul and jazz

West Coast hip hop is a hip hop music subgenre that encompasses any artists or music that originates in the Western United States region of the United States, as opposed to East Coast hip hop, based originally in New York alone. The gangsta rap subgenre of West Coast hip hop began to dominate from a radio play and sales standpoint during the early 1990s with the birth of G-funk and the emergence of Suge Knight's Death Row Records.
