Jonathan Harris – The Web’s Secret Stories
By Jonathan Harris
Titled: The Web’s Secret
Stories
Jonathan’s presentation gathered emotions and thought’s from all over the internet.
Placed them all in one easy to use website.
And made his session have a sense of joy, sadness and comedy.
By Using real blogs, pictures and status updates he captured the audience.
Retrieved from wefeelfine.org
Jonathan held the audience’s attention by using real world material.
Everything in the presentation was created by everyday people and what they were feeling. This made the subject matter relatable to the crowd.
The material was accessible by anyone at any time.
(And made by everyone at any time)
Jonathan sorted the feelings in many different ways, to show that many different types of feelings were made by adults, children, teens and the elderly.
Besides the basic lay out of the presentation, everything else was up in the air.
All of the material was clicked on and read out loud, no matter what it was. This gave the presentation an exciting value to the audience. No one knew what would pop up next.
Though Jonathan’s material was exciting and
creative I think there is more that he could have
done with body language, self emotion and crowd interaction
that would have landed him a 5 out 5.

Jonathan did a great job of keep the audience engaged by:
-Using interactive material-Capturing raw human emotion-Using phrases and personal information that everyone could relate too-Showing examples of real world problems-Explaining the website in laments terms for the audience to understand-Being genuinely positive and exciting
Relating his material to what we currently have now. Using Nancy’s formula for speeches.
Pushing the audience to be more excited about the material. By interacting with the crowd more.
Focusing on how this will benefit us in the future, and explaining, more thoroughly, the educational benefits of it.
Jonathan Harris
Visual aid through computers.
Knows material well enough to make the presentation enjoyable.
Comedy through chance and circumstance.
Secondary focus was education, primary focus was social media.
Visual aid through educational, understandable illustration.
Very well rehearsed, well spoken and passionate about the material.
Sir Ken Robinson
Comedy through sarcasm, facts, gestures and awkward moments.
Primary focus was education, with a general concern and passion to make
people understand the facts.

Both Jonathan and Sir Ken were phenomenal speakers in very different ways.
There is a lot to learn from both men, on many different topics.
If I HAD to favor one, it would be Ken. His delivery, presentation and material was spot on. The speech was informative, realistic and funny. He broke down very complicated subjects and made
them simple to understand.
Winner!?
Use visual aid when you can and make it look as interesting and exciting as possible.
If I had one piece of advice for my peers regarding this assignment and speech…
Be funny, whether you choose comedy, sarcasm or embarrassing stories, just be funny. It makes the learning process easier.
If you have something creating to show people, then do it. Don’t hold back and don’t think your ideas aren’t worth it. They are.
Thank you.-Eric Pickard
