The Treasure Act 1996
• 1996 Treasure Act defined treasure as artefacts of gold or silver (at least 10% content) over 300 years old
• Two or more gold or silver coins, ten or more base metal coins from the same find
• Two or more prehistoric metal objects (pre-43 AD) from the same find

• 20 of the roughly 160 Treasure cases in Kent since 2009 have been acquired (excluding donations).
• Maidstone, Dover, Canterbury and Sevenoaks Museums have acquired treasure.
• Roughly 81% of all valued case are under £1000.
• Museum Accreditation needed to acquire.
