I knew “the” day had arrived when in the midst of asserting myself, I heard one of my soon-to-be big brothers & a big sister saying they would only pick out someone very very special.

That someone special was going to be just for you, Momma!

I was so happy & excited – but not too surprised -- when I heard them agree that the very special someone they picked especially for you….was none other than me!

I sure learned a lot from my Aunt Malley! We had so much fun together romping around the house and in the yard.

A few weeks later…the big day came. It was a really really long airplane ride. Of course, I totally charmed absolutely everybody on the plane!

I’d planned all along that my cute little nose would first “announce” my official arrival into your life. While we were still walking down that long walkway at the terminal I decided that more than my cute nose was definitely in order. That’s when I figured the timing was just

right for me to poke my head out of big brother’s jacket.

Dear Momma,

What you didn’t know right away is that I had a little help (well, maybe a bit more than that) confirming just how to quickly grab hold of your heart. ‘Cuz Momma, everyone knew very well just how much your heart was still aching since having to say farewell for awhile to Odie.

As we kept getting closer to you, I thought it had begun raining inside of the terminal. But I soon realized that the tears of joy were really flowing!

We walked up to you and, with tears still in his eyes, big brother Michael gently placed me in your arms as he and big sister Sara softly said to you… ..“Momma…meet Odie III.”

I knew I had big “paws” to fill.But I wasn’t worried…I was up to it and planned to accomplish that in my own

special way!

Besides having very sharp instincts, my big sis, Odie, had been right by my side

for quite some time and boy did she ever help me out!

So let’s just say, I was more than ready.

Odie knew you’d “find” a very special name for me which turned out to be Lady

Victoria Dreamcatcher. How I loved to hear you talk about how that name came

to be mine. And I really liked how you shortened it to

Torie. What fun knowing my name included a hint of big sister Odie in the

spelling…and how it even includes your name Momma!

You, me, four of my big sisters…Caysi, Frango, Scamper, and

Rayna…we were so lucky to have each other, along with so many

other two- and four-legged family & friends. And it was so great

that we kept meeting other really good people throughout our life

together.

Momma…you always told me…you would never, ever compare

anybody…and you never did. You love and care about every

single one of us for exactly who we are and how God made us.

I have certainly been a character…and we have both loved every minute of it! And you sure do have lots of pictures to prove it.

What fun I had as I certainly tried my best to keep everyone on their toes!

You often said, what a wonderful life we had Momma! You always said it was really the “people” (2- and 4-legged….with some occasional special emphasis on the “4”) who make all

the difference.

Remember what a happy day it was when Scamper and Rayna came to

live with us? And then how about the even happier

day when we told them they had a forever home with us!

You told me often how many others and I gave so much to you while you

felt you couldn’t do or give us enough.

I hope you always remember how I “told” you how much I love you and

thank you for all you gave me throughout my life.

Momma, you often talked about the special joy every family member and friend brought into your life. You said the joy was unique and wonderful to each one of us

and that it was uniquely ours to bring.

Oh Momma…I’m so glad you have those videos of me playing in the snow when I was a puppy. How we loved those days & what fun we had together…Caysi,

Frango, you and me! And, of course, you have lots and lots and lots more pictures of all of us from that and so many other wonderful times!

Just like Odie said we would…we shared lots of family gatherings, and vacations, and walks, and talks, and hikes and lots of tender loving time and

care.

Until we can do those things together again, we can remember our walks, playing catch, working

(uh digging ) in our yards, helping keep the floors clean, and always watching out for each

other. And sunrises and sunsets were such nice times of the day for us.

Odie told me I’d really like all the together time a lot and she was right.

I know you felt the same way, too.

Momma, I always loved how you gently held my head, face and ears, kissed and nuzzled me and

also how you hugged me. You sometimes squeezed me a little tight…but I really didn’t mind

that anywhere near as much as I might have let on sometimes.

Your almost constant words (many unspoken) of love, encouragement and appreciation will never leave my heart. You often told me that I was an

amazing gift from God…just as your other 2- and 4-legged children, family & friends are to you. TorieTorie

Momma, you didn’t know I’d have to go ahead of you to Jesus so soon.I know you really didn’t want to let me go.

It made me very sad to leave you so soon and so suddenly. But Momma, I was so thankful for the comfy bed you made just for me in our 4Runner.

And you made sure I had my own special blanket. Most important is that I was right next to you with my sweet sister Scamper very near.

Thank you, Momma for realizing and accepting that last Monday afternoon was the time when Jesus wanted me back home with Him.

And you know what….the moment I left that bed, I was in Jesus’ arms with lots of family and friends...including Granddad and Terri and Odie and Caysi and Abby and Tyghher….all surrounding

us!WOW…what a welcoming committee!
