About Lesley Visser

Throughout her career as a sports broadcaster, Lesley Visser has received numerous awards and distinctions in recognition of her accomplishments. In 2006, Ms. Visser received the Gracie Allen Award from the Alliance for Women in Media, formerly known as American Women in Radio and Television, or AWRT.

Alliance for Women in Media

A national nonprofit organization for professional women in media such as radio and television, the Alliance for Women in Media was established in 1951. It operates out of headquarters in McLean, Virginia, and maintains a number of local chapters across the country.

Mission of the Alliance for Women in MediaThe Alliance for Women in Media works to increase opportunity for women in the media and improve the overall quality of female-led broadcast programming. In particular, the organization focuses on helping women and minorities take advantage of ownership opportunities in the communications sector. The organization also furnishes scholarships, educational programming, and networking opportunities and publishes Making Waves magazine, which contains informative pieces about radio and television, relevant legislation, and industry news.
