Oscar Fest
So, it’s the time of the year when all we can think about is who’s going to win
what in The Oscars. I’m sure many of you would have already bet on your
favourite movies. Haven’t you? Well, I’m excited too.
Meanwhile, I was researching a bit about Academy Award winning films and I
came across this post on my timeline from HBO Defined. They are showing
some of the amazing Academy Awards winning flicks. And the list is quite
interesting. It includes movies like ‘Dreamgirls’, ‘Memoirs of Geisha’, ‘Crash’,
‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’, ‘The Fighter ’, ‘The Social Network’,
‘Hugo ’ and ‘The Iron Lady’.
Allow me to say that all these movies are an absolute must -watch. I’ve a few of
them and I’m sure going to watch the other few very soon. Talking about the
movies that I have watched, I think that would include: ‘The Curious Case of
Benjamin Button, ‘The Social Network’, ‘Hugo’ and ‘The Iron Lady’.
Starting with my favourite, ‘The Iron Lady’ . . .it’s a movie about the life
of the longest-serving Prime Minister of the United Kingdom of the 20 th
century, Margaret Thatcher. The character of Thatcher is played by the
talented Meryl Streep. The movie majorly talks about Thatcher’s
struggle with dementia. Throughout the movie, Thatcher looks back on
the significant moments of her personal and professional life. It shows
the influence that the death of her husband had on her.
The next is ‘The Social Network’ . I think this one is watched by every
Facebook fan. It stars Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg, the founder
of Facebook. And I think he completely fits the bill. It won the Best
Adapted Screenplay at the 83rd Academy Awards. Completely worth it!
Coming to ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ . . .Brad Pitt is my
favourite and I think that’s the reason I watched this flick. And it left me
awe-inspired. Directed by David Fincher, the movie is a diary entry of
Benjamin Button. The concept of ageing backwards was awesome
enough to attract the Oscar... and awesome enough to make me adore it.
Last but not the least ‘Hugo ’. . .the movie is set in 1930s Paris. It talks
about an orphan who lives in the walls of a train station. It’s basically
based on the novel called ‘The Invention of Hugo Cabret’. The story is a
mystery involved with Hugo’s father and an automaton.
These movies are really worth..... Read more
