Film: Hidden Truth

Pitch by MediaCFZCrystal Bukenya

Genre

We have decided to do a 2 minute opening sequence of a crime thriller film. This is because we all believe these genres work well together, and will have a positive response from our target audience.

When? We will begin filming between 17th- 25th

October

Plot• Will Shawder( Will) returns home from work to find a box outside his

door step with his name attached to it• He takes the box inside and opens it, to find a DVD inside, with his

name written on• He plays the DVD, and sees his wife, Karen Shawder, on the tape, who

has been held hostage • Karen reads out instructions via cue cards given by the antagonist,

assuring her husband that she is OK, but will not be if he does not co-operate

• She finally reads. ‘ He will prove that he means business’, and questions the criminal of the meaning

• Will panics as he sees Karen is confused and she begins to scream his name for help

• Will is angry and frustrated , and so he furiously wipes the box off the table so it lands on the floor. He sees something roll out of the box

• As Will moves closer to examine it, he realises it is Karen’s cut off finger

• Sequence ends

Target audience

Our target audience will range from ages 15 to 50, for both male and females.

We think our target audience are suitable for our film and will be able to grasp the idea of our narrative .

Influence Our main influence came from the film, The

Box( 2009), directed by Richard Kelly. The psychological thriller is about a couple that are financially strapped, and wake one morning to find a package at their doorstep.

They open the package and find a box inside, with a large red button. They later meet the sender, a mysterious middle aged man, and are told by him that they will be given one million dollars if they push the red button, however, someone in the world they do not know, will die.

This gave us the idea to use a box in our sequence to help unfold the story, because we felt it grabbed our attention. As viewers we will wonder what is inside the box, and assume it is important.
