Hadouken!- Mic Check

The song

• The song Mic Check has a sample from Double 99's RIP Groove which is used at the very start of the song. There were 3 versions of the song released as singles because of the sample from the original song. The song has a very good beat and it is quite a dance song.

Thought beats/ Seeing songs

• The beats go very well with the song because when the beat is slow then the lights are slow and so is the singer. When the beat gets faster the lights change speed and become for faster. Also the camera goes faster to keep up with the band members. There are different shots used because when the song is slow and starting off the camera focuses more on the members but when they are faster the camera skips through the members quickly.

Narrative and Performance

• The video doesn’t have a narrative because it is all performance. It is just the band playing their song and you can see them paying it.

The Star Image

• Hadouken! Don’t really have a star image because of their genre. Their genre is electronic/dance so for their most videos they dress quite casually with hoodies and jeans on. They don’t have a particular dress code, they just dress as they would normally.

Ways in which the music video relates to the song

• The song doesn’t really link to the song a much but it is an example of amplification because the beats go well with the video for example the lighting flashes to the beat. The director didn’t want to have a real narrative music video and also it fits in with Hadoukens genre.

Technical aspects of the music video

• The mise on scene for this video is what I talked about in the star image page. There mise en scene is the same on almost every video they have is just them in their casual clothing such as hoodies and jeans. Also, there is a female figure on the video and the camera skips to her through out the video. She has the same dress sense as the other band members by wearing a hoodie and some shorts.

Technical aspects of the music video

• The camera used in the music video is a mixture between slow and fast moving camera. The camera speed is dictated by whether the song has a slow beat or a fast beat. There are a lot of close ups and medium close ups used on mainly the lead singer and the women dancing. This will be used to show who is the main part of this video.

Technical aspects of the video

• The editing in the Mic Check video is very basic it just cuts from from the lead singer and the girls dancing. It doesn’t show much of the other band members. At the end of the video it has like a 3d effect to it were the outline of the members look they should be in in 3D.
