A little Story about common
these Days
and
and
in
Morrow in the state of Ohio.
to a little town called
just about a year agoI started on a journey,
Morrow
I’ve never been much
so I really didn’t know
that
was the hardest placeI’d ever try to go!
of a traveller,
Morrow
So I went to the stationfor my ticket and applied
for tips regarding
not expecting to be guyed
Morrow to go toSaid I: “My friend, I’d like
and returnno later than
for I haven’t time to burn.”tomorrow
Morrow Said he to me: “Now let me see
if I have heard you right:
and return
night.”
You’d liketo go to
tomorrow
Morrow
Morrow “You should
have gone to
yesterday and back today, for the train that goes to
is a mile upon its way...”
Morrow
Morrow “If you had gone to
now don’t you see,yesterday
you could have gone to
and returned today at three.”
Morrow
“For the train today to
if the schedule is right, today it gets to
and returns tomorrow night.”
Morrow
Morrow on the line, now tell me that!”
there is a town called
you’re talking through your hat,
Said I: “My friend,it seems to me
Morrow
“There is,” said he,
“But take from mea quiet little tip,
to go from here to
is a fourteen hour trip.”
“The train today to
leaves today at 8:05,at half-past ten
is the time it should arrive.”tomorrow
Morrow
Morrow
tomorrow
“So if from here to
is a fourteen hour jump, can you get anywhere
and get back today,you chump?”
Morrow
Morrow Said I: “I’d like to go to
so can I go today, and get to
by tonight if there is no delay?”
tomorrow
“Well, well”,
“And I’ve got no more to say,
can you get anywhere
and get back again today?”
said he to me,
Morrow
Said I:“I guess you know it all,
but kindly let me say,how can I get to
if I leave this town today?”
Morrow
Morrow anymore today,
Said he:“You can not go to
for the train that goes to
is a mile upon its way!”
Morrow
I was so disappointed,I was mad enough to swear,
the train had gone to
and it left me standing there.
Morrow
The man was rightin tellin’ me:
“You are a howlin’ Jay,you can not go to
”
– So I guess in town I’ll stay!
These lyrics were originally written by Lew Sully in 1898, who borrowed the tune from a traditional irish folk song. The song became more popular in the 1950s performed by the pop folk singer Bob Gibson, and then later again by “The Original Kingston Trio”. Nevertheless i prefer and recommend the version of “Jim Hensons Muppet Show” which you will easily find on YouTube. :) Font: Geometric 231. For further informations contact [email protected]
