Question 3

JJRA Productions

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Page 2: Question 3

Would this be something which could be produced by a Hollywood studio ?

We think our film will be a successful Hollywood film because it has a dramatic Noir storyline and isn't a typical Noir.we have developed our film from the Noir Genre and films that were released in holly wood and were produced by a holly wood studio, for

example

• La Confidential

• Taxi Driver

• Se7en

Having our film produced in a Hollywood studio will develop our film into more of a bigger production it will give our film more of a opportunity to have a bigger budget and

develop a bigger fan base and franchise. We think our film will be appealing to Hollywood Studios because;

• British accents

• Black and white movie

• Talented actors

• Unique and has not been done before.

Page 3: Question 3

Would it be an internet only release?

We do not think that our film would be suitable as an internet only release, this is because it is aimed at a wide audience of people over the age of eighteen. If this film was released only on the internet, not as much money would be made because not everyone likes to use the internet to buy things, though some people find it too much trouble to go to a shop and buy films. So we think that the film could be released on the internet as well as sold in shops, so everyone has the choice of where to buy it and watch it.

Page 4: Question 3

Would it be a TV Movie?We think that if our film was produced it would be successful a TV Movie

because a the audience is larger for TV. Our film would be showed on mainstream channels but also on Crime channels to reach our target

audience. The crime channels that will show our movie will be:

• CI

• Fox Crime

• FX

We have chosen these channels because the genre is crime which fits well with our film. The channels that we wouldn't have our film shown is a

channel that has a under 18 target audience. Because our film has violence and strong language it would’t be suitable for a younger audience, also

smoking is a convention in Noir and our characters wouldn't’t be setting a good example for a younger audience. Specific channels would be;

• Disney Channel

• MTV

• Nick

Page 5: Question 3

Why would it released? Does it offer opportunities for franchises of

merchandise? Our film will be distributed by Universal Pictures because they have the highest films released one year and its a popular and trusted distributor. Our BBFC certificate will be 18 because our film contains violence and strong language. Also the Noir genre is mainly aimed at a older audience.

Our film will have brilliant merchandise, we will have a men and women section and we will sell T Shirts, Ties, pen and pencil sets and the black dress that Susan wears this will be a sell out because Susan is our main character which will draw women into our franchise. Having T Shirts in our merchandise is proven to be a sell out. Taking information from Twilight Saga's who have really popular T Shirts. Having Team Shirts like Team Clouse, Team Brown, Team Susan makes our film merchandise more personal and will sell more successfully.

Page 6: Question 3

Link your conclusions to a discussion of mise en scene of your film noir.

Our film is being released as a British Hollywood film, we think that this is the best option for our audience this is because our film, Eye For an Eye is a typical film noir with settings in a side alley of a city like area, this is a main convention and would be important to the audience as they would like to be able to relate to the similar sort of environment. The expensive outfits that Susan wears (fur coat, black dress, pearl necklaces) and what Claus wears (detective suit) links in with the high budget of Hollywood movies. Many Hollywood release film noirs include conventions such as low key lighting and there is more than often several scenes within a police station, we followed this convention when Susan is questioned, we included the low key lighting as well to make the scene more dramatic.
