I created my first questionnaire in order to establish what type of music video my target audience would enjoy watching. The audience my music video was targeted was young people within the age range of 14-25. By getting feedback from people of this age group, I asked 10 questions. While some were rather general I also asked some specific questions which were based on ideas I had already thought to use in my music video. I posted my questionaire on a facebook as the majority of my targeted age group use the internet and social networking websites frequently. I got results from 20 people within my target audience.I fould out various things about my target audience based on the results that I got from my questionnaire. For example by asking my audience whether they prefer the artist in question to be the main focus of the music video, I was able to gain an idea of what they like to see. The majority of my target audience answered this question with ‘yes’. I asked this question as a way of seeing whether or not Andrew Goodwin’s theory applied to my audience. Goodwin claims that ‘the demands of the record label will include the need for lots of close ups of the artists’. The results of my questionnaire prove this theory right, therefore I will meet the needs of my target audience by making sure that my star is the main focus of my music video.

Question 1: Did the video link with the Hip-Hop subculture?I asked this question in order to establish whether of not my music video related to the subculture of hip-hop. The majority of people who responded said yes. This shows I have portrayed the hip-hop subculture efficiently as the genre characteristics of hip-hop used have been identified by the audience.

Question 2: Was there enough footage of the artist? The majority of people I that responded to my questionnaire said that they saw enough of the artist. I made sure I included plenty footage of the artist as in my first questionnaire, when I asked whether my audience prefer the artist in question to be the main focus of the music video, the majority of respondents said yes. I therefore responded to my audiences needs.

Question 3: What do you think best describes this video? Fast, Colourful, FunIn the planning process I planned to make my video include plenty of colours and fast movement. Judging by my audience feedback, my video is mainly fast, as there is plenty of fast-forwarding and quick movements between shots. I think I could have used more footage that included a bigger variety of colours as only 20% of respondents thought my video was colourful.

Question 4: Do you think the video was filmed in good choices of location?80% of people who filled in my questionnaire agreed that my locations were good. However, they are all Londoners. If I had asked a broader audience, I may have got a different response.

Question 5: Where did you watch the music video? My audience feedback I found that the majority of my target audience watched my video on Youtube. This demonstrates the fact that distributing my video on YouTube was a good idea, as it is commonly used amongst my target audience.

Question 6: Do you think the video was targeted at the right audience? (teenagers and young adults)These results showed me that the majority of respondents thought that the video had been well aimed at the target audience, showing me that I was successful in including the right characteristics within my video.

Question 7: Do you think the content of the video was suitable for the target audience? A high majority agreed that the content was appropriate for my target audience. This shows that I was successful in gaining a wider audience. I planned to have no explicit content in it, as I considered that it may cause offense which could result in some members of my target audience not willing to watch it.
