Initial Ideas

The type of music magazine I am going to produce is an Indie magazine.The target audience of this magazine will not really be aimed at a certain age it will be aimed at all ages of people who enjoy and are fans of indie music.

Researching the Market Place

Price:- £2.20Frequency of publication:- Every weekIssue size(number of pages):- 70 pages longRegular Content:- News, reviews, radar, live and features.Features:- These normally have interviews and features

on specific artists, along with a page for letters from the readers. Further on in NME, there is also a section dedicated to reviews which comments upon new albums, singles and concerts of the week. In addition to this, near the end of the magazine, the pages are filled with adverts for upcoming tours and gigs as well as competitions and a crossword.

Feature articles:- Usually there are only 3/4 feature articles

which are just based on certain singers or bands.

Classic Rock

Price:- £5.50Frequency of publication:- Monthly Issue size(number of pages):- Range from 120-180Regular Content: - Doesn’t have any regular content that they stick to the bold headings change in every issue.Features:- The feature articles which are on the

contents page are kept to a minimum number of about 8/9 and each one uses a band or singers name as the heading.

KERRANG!

Price:- £2.20Frequency of publication:- WeeklyIssue size(number of pages):-approx. 70 pages Regular Content: - feedback, news, win, live reviews, features, albums, gig guide and the K! quizFeatures:- Features is placed within the regular

content which has things within the magazine and also about the main picture on the contents page.

Also free themed, fifteen-track CD of rock ‘n’ roll legendsFeatures:- engaging its readers on the subject they love the most featuring the likes of Ramones and in-depth portraits of bands containing 10 page cover features.

Q Rock Magazine

Price:- £5.44Frequency of publication:- MonthlyIssue size(number of pages):-Regular Content: - Q quiz, last requests, cash for questions, soapbox, Q hero, Q50, access all areas and my record collection.Features:- These are only artists or bands names that are within the magazine. These features will all probably be a double page spread.
