What the heck’s going on?! Chance to show off – larger

I Love FM, Do You?

We need to all be thinking on the same page, so that Surge FM is the best it can be

A chance for opportunity – now is the time to try new things and do your best shows ever!

Also the end product of a year’s planning, with producers and show plans now implemented

FM is very special – way more listeners and interaction

You have two-hour shows so there’s way more you can do with the time… use it!

The Beauty of Planning Planning is like radio show

steroids – always helpful, it will always make a show better

Planning is especially important on FM as a higher standard is paramount for this radio

Tactics:Splitting up your show – one feature per 20-minute period of

the show will help the show with weighting and flowBRAND NEW website planner – should be launched for FMSending plans to André for feedback – the sooner the betterNo need to make a script, but know what’s going on

Let’s Build That Feature Building features can be hard,

but it needn’t be! Don’t let it daunt you

Just ASK – ask committee, friends, DJs, parents, anyone for feedback!

Make clips of features and we can upload them to the website – double exposure!

If you need help, please email Ben at [email protected]

Who’s a Good Presenter? You guys have been presenter-

trained, so just remember what you were taught and you’ll be fine!

Top tips:Remember the audience – involve

and engage themBe confident – speak in an upbeat

manner and with confidence!Avoid ‘random’ chat – make sure

speech has a point and is thought through at least a bit… no idea? Play a song!

Know how the feature is to start, what it’s point is, and how it is to end – once it’s done, move on!

“What’s On” – Oh, You’ll Know What is ‘What’s On’? – telling people…

what’s on – a feature we’re bringing back from freshers’ week for FM

Support from the Features Team in finding it – a Word document will be on the desktop for you to read yourself

Times to read are 10:30am (9-11am), 2:30pm (1-2pm) and 6:30pm (5-7pm) – not bang on, just around that time

Getting interviews and sessions in shows – again, talk to the Features Team for this

Page 8: Surge FM Presentation

Hello, I’m Show ‘X’. I’m Show ‘Y’ 10/15 minutes before your

slot, pop into the studio and just chat with the people on-air for a bit to transition between shows

“So, what’ve you got coming up?” is a good way to introduce the next show and keep listeners engaged

PREVIEW CLIP!?!? – you might even want to bring a clip in which previews your show or shows what kind of thing you do

Communication (deadly serious!)

Andre is your primary contact during FM period (outside elections) – [email protected]

Kerry is your primary contact during elections week (last week of Feb) – [email protected]

In an emergency, ring (or text) us! Our numbers are in the studio on the photo wall

Email Ben at [email protected] for technical problems – phone 07540245802 in emergency (CHECK FAQS AND PRODUCTION MANUAL FIRST!)

Also make sure you check the message of the day and act upon it if necessary

“Oh, FM. I Love You” These are potentially the best

shows you will ever do – make the most of it!

There are loads of things happening around campus, so you should never be short of things to talk about

If you’re interested in entering the Student Radio Awards, clips from these shows would be useful in your entries

Rules like no swearing and no false advertising are particularly important… also check SUSU Elections rules for elections stuff

Yes, we are aware this is a uterus… Dave made the PowerPoint and somehow didn’t realise… he thought it was a heart!

And Remember…

HAVE FUN!

Then have some more…

That’s enough!
