My magazine is aimed at;

Late teens, young twenties (18-25) as it will involve events, alcohol and gigs thatare for 18+ people so it will appeal to them.

It will probably appeal more to guys, but can appeal to a small minority of girls.

It is aiming at C2 to E education/occupation as a lot will still be at university andin low paid jobs.

Their annual income will be that they aren’t loaded but they still have enoughmoney to go out at weekends or on nights out.

Their current lifestyle will still be mainly studying or still ‘finding’ themselves soexploring a lot of different aspects of their lives by going out, meeting newpeople, trying new things

Their culture of lifestyle will be going out, getting drunk, partying, gettingtattoos, smoking, having a good time, working/going to lectures, living life to thefull.

Their media interests will be into heavy music, they can also be interested inphotography of skate boarding and biking, band/gig photography, smokingphotos, tattoo photos, music videos, films that come under the horror andcomedy genre such as Anchorman, Hot Rod, they will appreciate the old ‘classic’horror films from the director Alfred Hitchcock, they will however also like suchhorrors as Saw, The Collector, The Exorcist, Dawn of the Dead, ParanormalActivity, The Descent, Hostel.

Their buying habits will be spending more money on going togigs/events/festivals, alcohol, clothing, band merchandise, tattoos, electricaldevices e.g. iPods, cameras, computers, gaming devices rather than food.

They will have a strong loyalty to brands. They will buy clothing such aswww.iheartdropdead.com, honor over glory, and band merchandise. They willorder the majority of their clothing from the internet as the clothes they weararen’t mainstream enough to be sold in high street stores. They will also mainlybuy CDs from places such as the internet on sites they trust such aswww.play.com or www.amazon.co.uk or in stores such as HMV.

My magazine is going to be a full A4 color magazine which will contain band/artist interviews, gig guides, gigand CD reviews, new bands introduced, band/artist news, upcoming events, posters, top ten tracks of theweek. The cover of my magazine will contain a band that is approximately in the same age group as my targetaudience and it will use quite dark, rebellious colors such as black, reds, greys, whites. The front cover willoccasionally include pictures of just one member if a band as they will be involved in a one on one exclusiveinterview. For example, Danni Winter-Bates from Bury Tomorrow, Lawrence Taylor from While She Sleeps.This will appeal to my target audience and draw them into wanting to read the magazine. Cover lines willshow that the magazine is more for a rebellious, heavy audience, which deals with interviews that no othermagazine has had with them. The magazine will also show competitions and special offers. Graphics used willbe bold and ‘in your face’ to really stand out to people. It will have an organized, non cluttered layout to showthat even though it looks heavy, it’s still smart. The magazine will sell at £2.50, an average price for a musicmagazine, making it affordable for the target audience and good value for money as it contains lots ofinformation about, not only the bands they like but also good events which will be appealing to the audience.

My magazine will have many typical features to that of a music magazine. Every issue will have;

Band/artist interviews,

Gig and CD reviews,

Gig guides,

Top ten tracks of the week,

New bands introduced.

There will be a strong focus on the front cover story, which could be a band/artist interview also it will also have other strong focuses throughout the magazine. It will have an appeal to the audience as a lot of readers will typically be in a small band and they can feel like they relate to the bands inside as they sound similar to them and are just starting off, just like the bands in the magazine did.

The magazine will keep readers up to date in the top ten fresh tracks of the week, hoping to appeal to readers and new bands weekly. Giving readers a new range of music to explore weekly and check out.

The magazine will use language familiar to the target audience as it will appeal to them and make them feel like they can read the magazine in comfort.
