Crystal Lake Pool

• Initially built in 1927.

• Constructed for $60,000.

• 840,000 gallons of water.

• Pool and Filter House modernized in

1955.(28 years)

• Bath House Replaced in 1958. (31 years)

More Crystal Lake Pool History• Most Recent Renovation: Three Phases

– Phase 1 After closing the pool in the Fall of 1978, Crystal Lake Pool missed the summer season of 1979, and the old oval pool was replaced with the rectangular pool seen today, which opened in the summer of 1980 at a cost of $780,000. Phase 1.

– Phase 2 In 1980, Began after Labor Day. The bath house received new plumbing and electricity, and new fixtures. The roof was re-done. It re-opened in time for the summer of 1981 at a cost of $228,000.

– Phase 3 Took place between the Summer of 1981 and 1982 at a cost of $191,000. It included the Gazebo, the “new baby pool” and the parking lot, plus landscaping.

Recent Crystal Lake Pool

History• In the 1990’s replaced guard stands, diving stands,

irrigation system, installed “Funbrella”, landscape improvements, repaired bath house exterior roof and installed interior bath house ceiling.

• In the 2000’s replaced water filter system and boiler system.

• Crystal Lake Pool Closed due to aging infrastructure and unsafe conditions at the end of the summer 2008.

• Increments between major renovations or replacements are 28, 31, and 23 years. Crystal Lake Pool lasted 28 years after its last major improvement. Trend shows that it is now time to renew the aquatic experience at Crystal Lake Pool.

– 28% did not feel their needs were met
