  2. 2. When entering an Armenian household, one of the first things you will come across is a coat rack. This is assembled for their guests to place their jackets, coats, handbags, etc. in when they come to visit. The upper level is also used for stacking videos, DVDs, CDs, etc. They like to use the coat rack to make sure the house isnt piled with coats and handbags all around, but instead they are all gathered neatly in one place.
  3. 3. The living room is designed for guests to come over and socialize with the home-owners. They are able to watch television, have coffee with desserts, and have long-lasting conversations. On the other hand, on an every day basis, the home-owners sit on the couches and watch television. This, of course, happens while they are gathered around the family; engaging in small-talk and having something to munch on, on the side.
  4. 4. The Armenian culture loves interior/exterior design. Their households usually consist of beautiful landscapes, furniture, home dcor, and much more. This picture shows an example of how artistic this culture is. Here we see a beautifully designed fireplace, with candles in candleholders on top, a designer knife, and an exquisite clock. This arrangement takes place in the living room, matching the color combination to the rest of the room.
  5. 5. Here we see a long table, designed for guests to come over and have dinner. It can seat many people and hold a large amount of food on top. Since Armenians gather together to have barbeque very often, this is an important essential in ones home. With the rest of the living room, this table set is also in the color dark brown. This is purposely done to make the living room match, making it look very nice and royal.
  6. 6. The big square-shaped object, that appears in the picture, is called a cervant (sar-vahnt). One can find this object in almost every Armenian household. It is displayed for design, and to hold glass plates, bowls, and other accessories, used to hold desserts and fruit for the guests that come over. The drawers contain smaller glass plates, used for putting ones choice of dessert or fruit on. They also contain sterling-silver forks and knives, trays to place coffee and tea cups on, and other necessary objects.
  7. 7. An Armenian kitchen contains a refrigerator, oven, microwave, dish- washer, shelves, and drawers. These items are used to store food, heat up food, cook food, and assemble cups, forks, spoons, knives, plates, bowls, etc. There is a smaller, round table used for the immediate family of the home to feast on. This table is used every day, whereas the other larger table is used on special occasions, when guests come over.
  8. 8. Speaking of interior design, Armenians like to design their restrooms beautifully as well. Just like the living room, the restroom contains dark brown and light brown tones. The big mirror gives an exotic look to the restroom, making it appear a little bigger than it actually is. The sink has a marble counter, which usually contains the soap and some sort of decoration. In this case, there are three candle-holders with candles on top.
  9. 9. The backyard has a table with chairs around, under a patio. Armenians are very social individuals, and this is a way of them communicating with their family members and guests. Morning coffee can usually be enjoyed in this kind of setting. The family members gather around the table and engage in casual conversation, while enjoying the beautiful weather.
  10. 10. Armenians are known for keeping some type of fruit trees in their backyards. In this case, the big dark green tree is a lemon/lime tree and next to it there is a pomegranate tree growing in progress. This is a way to keep their yards looking exotic and very nature-oriented, while having natural fresh fruits/vegetables right in their backyards, ready for use.
  11. 11. Like I mentioned in the earlier slides, Armenians love landscape and design. Here we see a front yard, that contains a fountain, a table with chairs under an umbrella, two light posts, and flowers arranged in various different places. The table and chairs are also used for enjoying coffee, while taking a look at the wonderful landscape. It is important for this culture to have a nice design, because it makes the house look better.
