employees every year. • Cuts can be severe and painful 

sometimes requiring stitches. Why these mishaps occur?• One reason is that we don’t give 

utility knives the respect they deserve.

 • Don’t disable any safety features in the cutters.• Always pay attention to your work when using a cutter.• Keep your stationary hand or body clear of the cutting  path.

• Make sure you are working on a stable surface. • Inspect cutter before using it check if the blade is sharp a dull 

blade is an unsafe blade. It requires more force to cut the material.

•  If the blade is dull ask your supervisor for another one.• The handle should be free of oil or residue that could affect 

your grip

• Follow manufacture’s instruction for each particular knife.• Cut with a smooth control motion• Keep your body position away from the cutter it could slip.• Using the right tool is going to protect your safety
