Close Up

Close up shot analysis

• Here, the close up shot of the model allows use to clearly see the features of the model, the model’s face is also well lit which only goes on to further highlight the attention towards the models image.• When taking the close up shot, I tired to combine it with a high angle

shot to create an effect of innocence, which could lead the reader of an article to be intrigued and read more.• The models facial expressions could be linked with genre of music that I

am basing my magazine on, indie pop, I made this link because indie pop artists are often associated with “not caring”, and because the model isn’t looking at the camera it gives off the thought that he doesn’t care that his photo is being taken.

Medium Close Up

Medium Close up shot analysis

• This medium close up shot is very up front and formal. I think that this is the type of photo that would be used for a front cover, it allows readers to easily notice the artist on the front cover. • Again, I combined the medium close up shot with a high angled shot, I did

this believing that it made the model look comfortable and confident in himself. This can again be related to the genre of music, as indie pop artists need to be confident as their music stands out so much from other typical genres.• I also made sure that the picture was well lit, I did this in order to make the

models facial features stand out more, such as his cheekbones as they gave off a shadow under the light. I did this in order to fit in with what I wanted originally in my model auditions.

Full Body

Page 7: Photo shoot –range of shot types

Full Body shot analysis

• This full body shot shows a different side to the model. All the other photos have shown him presenting a serious role, whereas this one shows him acting more casual and quirky. I feel that this image would be used in a double page spread because it would allow the reader to think that there is more to the artist than they originally thought, leading them on to reading the corresponding article.• The full body shot allows the person looking at the image to see what

the model is wearing form head to toe. What he is wearing fits in with the genre of indie pop. Often fans of the genre of music dress similarly to the artists of the genre, this then allows fans of the music to pick up on tips of what is ‘in’ for the fashion side of the music.
