This year, Sofitel Al Khobar the Corniche, formed a Planet 21 committee based on

ambassadors from different departments. The committee was briefed by the Chief Steward, Mr. Sajjad Afzal on 31st March 2015 about the theme we chose ‘Recycling’.

These ambassadors were responsible to gather and segregate the trash (paper, glass, metal, plastic) and transfer them into large bins that were placed in the back areas.

Later on, it is collected by the assigned agency on regular basis.

This on going campaign is running successfully in all the departments, small and large

boxes are placed in offices and back areas. Ambassadors are actively participating in gathering the trash separately, rather than throwing everything in one bin only.

Planet 21 Day was celebrated on 22nd April, 2015 along with the whole committee ,

Heads of Departments and several other ambassadors, led by the general Manager, Mr. Fares Yactine.

Mr. Fares thanked and appreciated the Planet 21 committee for their efforts to

increase the awareness of recycling. He also explained the concept and importance of Planet 21 program by Accor.

Finally transferring all the collected garbage to the recycling containers, making sure

each item goes to the right place.

Our ambassadors decided to continue this good practice of recycling and make it a

routine on daily basis.
