About 750 million people, ie, more than one in 10 people in

the world, remain without access to improved water supply,

while about 2,500 billion lack sanitation and 1,000 million

practice defecation outdoor. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon,

provides these data in a message to mark World Water Day,

celebrated on Sunday.
