A. PEO Responsibilities

1. Coordinate and implement OCACS’ Public Education Programs.

a. Careers in Animal Care and Control. b. Dog Bite Prevention. c. Responsible Pet Ownership. d. Animal Laws and Regulations. e. Summer Reading Program. f. Shelter Tour Program.

2. Maintain the public information telephone line and voice mailbox.

3. Prepare public education materials: handouts, flyers, quarterly newsletter, and monthly calendars in collaboration with Health Care Agency’s (HCA) Quality Management (QM).

4. Update weekly promotions of adoptable pets to:

a. Contract city websites. b. Local newspapers. c. OCACS’ website www.ocpetinfo.com, in collaboration with HCA QM.

5. Organize special events hosted by OCACS or other entities and create press

releases advertising the event.

a. Annual Pet Fair. b. Pet Expo. c. Orange County Fair. d. Mobile Adoptions. e. Various monthly events.

6. Prepare quarterly reports for the Community Outreach Committee. 7. Make presentations to schools and public/private groups about the care and

handling of domestic animals, their characteristics, common ailments, and treatment.

8. Make presentations to schools and public/private groups about the habits, laws, and treatment of indigenous wildlife.

9. Answer inquiries regarding State, County, and local laws and regulations related to animal control.

10. Answer inquiries from the public and public officials regarding OCACS’ policies and procedures.

11. Appear on various television programs to promote adoptable animals and educate the public about the care and handling of domestic pets.

12. Investigate complaints from the public and resolve or refer to the appropriate party.

13. Operate a passenger vehicle, animal carrying unit or mobile adoption van to various field sites. Load, transport and show small animals at presentations, mobile adoptions and community events.

14. Maintain the public display cases at OCACS. 15. Update the Public Information page on www.ocpetinfo.com. 16. Perform other duties as specified by supervision.
