Funding of the Project

Total project cost £290,000

Grant Funding from 4 sources:Rural Development Fund – Distinctive Rural Hubs

Rural Development Fund – Innovative Communities

Rural Development Fund – Community Inclusion.

Collaborative Communities – Convergence Programme.

Distinctive Rural Hubs

To fund the conversion of the redundant building

Total cost £181,551

Total grant £75,000

Innovative Communities

• Installation of Solar Panels on the roof to provide hot water. Total Cost £19,133

• Marketing costs including website, on line booking and payment facilities and leaflets. Cost £4667

Total Grant £23,900.

Community Inclusion

To fund the installation of a commercial kitchen

Total cost £21,000

Total grant £16,800

Collaborative Communities

• Purchasing equipment for the Bunkhouse, including beds, open areas and dining furniture.

• Total Grant £41,428.

Economic Benefit

750 guests staying overnight in the first year with an average spend of £24. pppn.

Large percentage of visitors from overseas and had never visited Llandovery before

Achieved Visit Wales 4 Star Hostel Accommodation.

Increased spend in the town from people staying in the accommodation.

Work with local suppliers and businesses.

Jobs and Training

This Includes:8 full/part time staff employed within the

organisation all from the local area. 3 new volunteers.All staff trained NVQ Level 2 Basic Food

and HygieneSocial Media and Customer Care
