4Currently around 30 Electronic Manufacturing clusters are notified and GOI is targeting for 200 Electronic Manufacturing clusters by 2020.
To promote greater research in electronics and IT in India, GOI will fund PhD students.
3000 PhDs will be generated through PhD funding program in the area of electronics & IT/ITES.
Export of domestically manufactured Set top boxes and other electronic products are eligible for 2-5 % incentive

Government is Focusing to Develop CHIP & ELECTRONIC DESIGN INDUSTRY
To promote indigenous manufacturing of Set Top Boxes (STBs) Basic Custom Duty on STBs increased to 10%.
GOI is working to develop Intellectual Properties in Electronics to increase production.
FAME India: Govt scheme offering incentives on electric and hybrid vehicles of up to Rs 29,000 for bikes and Rs 1.38 lakh for cars.
India has become the hub for semiconductor design with nearly 2000 chips being designed per year

Parts and components and accessories are exempted from BCD and Excise
Duty.
To promote indigenous
manufacturing of Medical Electronic
Products
BCD on certain specified inputs for use in the manufacture of Flexible Medical Video Endoscopes has been reduced from 5% to 2.5%.
To promote indigenous
manufacturing of Tablet Computers
Components and accessories are exempted from BCD and Special Additional Duty of Customs (SAD).

10Conclusion This Pillar Programme of Digital India is Promoting and funding Electronic
Manufacturing Clusters & Electronic Manufacturing units in India to achieve the target of Net Zero Import by 2020 .
Also funding in Higher Education: Support to 1500 PhD Candidates under “Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT” Fellowship of @31,500p.m. for I & II yr. and 35,000 for III to V yr.
GOI is Promoting Intellectual Properties in the field of ICTE also DeitY has established a dedicated division for IPR support
This pillar programme is promoting Manufacturing of Electric Vehicle, Mobiles, Set-top boxes, computers, Medical Electronics and also exempted Basic Custom Dusty on many of Electronic Products.
