Aims of PSYV
• Young people aged 13-18
• 25% from vulnerable backgrounds
• Volunteer 3 hours a month – assisting in community and crime prevention measures and promoting positive citizenship
• Youth volunteers to represent the diversity of their area
Aims of PSYV
• Promote a practical understanding of policing amongst all young people
• Encourage the spirit of adventure/ good citizenship
• Support local policing priorities through volunteering and give young people a chance to be heard
• Inspire young people to participate positively in their communities
Police Scotland Youth Volunteers
• Groups geographically represented from Shetland to Stranraer
• Increase in number of YV and AVs from hard to reach groups/communities
• Launch of new national manual of guidance• Launch of national Facebook, Twitter and
Instagram accounts to increase SM presence• Launch of 9 module national accredited training
programme • Inspection tool• Annual comp. video
