INTRENATIONAL HISTORY I
• Before CPR was begun in 1960 the death
rate from Coronary Heart disease in the
U.S.A. was approx. 220 per 100,000 of the
population
• Since the late 60’s there has been a steady
decline in the death rate, which now stands
at approx. 50% of the 1960 level
INTRENATIONAL HISTORY II
1963 AHA established committee on cardiopulmonary resuscitation
1966 NAS - NRC conference recommended training of medical,
allied health and other professionals in CPR according
to AHA standards
1971 Committee expanded to cover ECC
INTRENATIONAL HISTORY III
1973 2nd national conference recommended that CPR
training be extended to public at large
1974 Standards & Guidelines for CPR & ECC published
Every 5th-7th year international meeting
2000.2005 meetings. Inter. standard & guidelines was

RECOMMENDATIONS I
• Wide community base training facilities
• Annual award and prize
• T.V.., radio and journal campaigns
• Professional magazines and journals in the Arab
world should do more to promote CPR issues
RECOMMENDATIONS II
Public at large should have classes in heart saver and first aid
More interested citizen should be enrolled in HCP course
wide spread of AED
first responders with a duty to perform CPR should be trained,
equipped & authorized to perform defibrillation
