INTRENATIONAL HISTORY I

• Before CPR was begun in 1960 the death

rate from Coronary Heart disease in the

U.S.A. was approx. 220 per 100,000 of the

population

• Since the late 60’s there has been a steady

decline in the death rate, which now stands

at approx. 50% of the 1960 level

1963 AHA established committee on cardiopulmonary resuscitation

1966 NAS - NRC conference recommended training of medical,

allied health and other professionals in CPR according

to AHA standards

1971 Committee expanded to cover ECC

1973 2nd national conference recommended that CPR

training be extended to public at large

1974 Standards & Guidelines for CPR & ECC published

singed by AHA. Why ???

*** Start producing our books. Starting by the Arabic

* AHA ask us to apply their curriculum. We refused

** The are looking for money and to take over my 30

years sweat and efforts.

*** They Start all over the kingdom. I do not blame

them. They do not know what they are doing

RECOMMENDATIONS I

• Wide community base training facilities

• Annual award and prize

• T.V.., radio and journal campaigns

• Professional magazines and journals in the Arab

world should do more to promote CPR issues

RECOMMENDATIONS II

Public at large should have classes in heart saver and first aid

More interested citizen should be enrolled in HCP course

wide spread of AED

first responders with a duty to perform CPR should be trained,

equipped & authorized to perform defibrillation
