Many of our attitudes are negative towards growing and would

Young people tend to believe that old people suffer from poor health, live in poverty, and are victims of crime

most certain it will continue through older age

When older people are unable to maintain what they value most- good health, visits from family friends, privacy, work activities, and recognition in the community- the quality of their lives suffers dramatically with their self image.

The loss of control is usually gradual and may involve both physical (becoming sick) or external changes (nursing home).
