Acupuncture Theory

Acupuncture uses the Chinese method of meridian therapy to treat over 2000 health conditions.

Acupuncture started 2000 years BC. Acupuncture believes in the bodies ability to

heal itself thru the use of body energy, or Chi.

Acupuncture Theory

Three levels of acupuncture treatments– Pain Control – treat patient where it hurts (ex.

Arthritis, sprain, strain, etc...)– Formula – Cookbook, recipe approach handed

down by clinical correlation– Classical, traditional – Instrument (acugraph) or

Acupuncture Theory

Chinese belief is that Chi ebbs and flows thru cycles to promote self healing, if there is a disruption in this ebb and flow of Chi disease or dysfunction will occur.

There are 2 cycles of energy used– Five element law– 24 hour cycle

Auriculotherapy

Treatments in my office

I normally use either pain control or formula method of treatment.

For long standing or systemic conditions I use acupuncture graphing.

I normally prefer needling with Seirin #4 needles, 1/20th the size of the needle used to draw blood.

Treatments last from 10-15 minutes I use the Japanese method of needling, depth of

insertion 2-3mm versus Chinese method of Da-Chi.

Acupuncture in the press

From Oprah’s website, www.oprah.com– Acupuncture

Acupuncture originated as part of the Traditional Chinese Medical System (TCM), and today is often practiced in the West as a stand-alone treatment. This treatment involves the (virtually) painless insertion of very fine needles shallowly into the skin at points all over the body. The points chosen by the practitioner are very specific and correspond to points along the meridians—or channels of vital energy flow—throughout the body. Acupuncture has been well studied and proven effective in treating a variety of conditions, especially pain.

Acupuncture works!

I have seen many conditions resolve using acupuncture in my practice.

There are very few contraindications to acupuncture and virtually no side effects.
