Facts about the system

What if the operator can’t hear the customer?

– Every alarm that comes in is treated as a medical emergency until that is ruled out. Operators will attempt to solicit a response over the two-way voice system 10 times, after which they will disconnect and place a call to the home phone line. If there is still no response, EMTs will be dispatched.

What if the power goes out?

– The base station comes equipped with a battery that will last up to 30 hours. In addition, our monitoring center receives a signal from the unit when AC power is lost and / or the battery is running low so that we can properly and proactively react.

– The alert button / pendant comes with a battery that will last up to 5 years.

Why Medical Alert Systems are valuable

One study concluded that, on average, the use of a Medical Alert Device extends delays entry into a long term care facility by 6 years.

Every 18 seconds an older adult is treated in an emergency room for a fall. Every 35 minutes, one of them dies as a result of their injuries.

40% of nursing home admissions cite falls as a major reason.

Seniors receiving care in the first hour following a fall or emergency have a 90% chance that they can return home and avoid having to move to a long-term care facility.
