How Lines and Wrinkles Can Form Between the Brows

• Movement of brow muscles causes the skin to crease

• Skin becomes less elastic over time; repeated frowning creates wrinkles between brows (the clinical term is glabellar lines)

How BOTOX® Cosmetic Works

• BOTOX® Cosmetic is a purified protein that smoothes the muscles by blocking nerve impulses

• With a few tiny injections, BOTOX® Cosmetic blocks the release of acetylcholine, which causes muscles to contract

• With less movement, the skin surface gradually smoothes out and lines begin to fade!

What to Expect From a BOTOX® Cosmetic Procedure

• Simple 10-minute procedure consists of a few tiny injections – Results typically seen in days and will continue to improve during

the first week after treatment (results may vary)

• No anesthesia injections required– Your doctor will numb the area with anesthetic cream– Minimal and brief discomfort

• There may be slight temporary bruising at the injection site– This can be easily covered up with makeup

• The most common side effects following injection include temporaryeyelid droop and nausea. Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness and/or bleeding/bruising may beassociated with any injection

Important Safety Information

• Serious heart problems and serious allergic reactions havebeen reported rarely

• If you think you’re having an allergic reaction or other unusual symptoms, such as difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing, call your doctor immediately

• The most common side effects following injection include temporary eyelid droop and nausea

• Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, redness and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection

• Patients with certain neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome may be at increased risk of serious side effects

What You Should Know Before aBOTOX® Cosmetic Procedure

To ensure the best treatment outcome:

• Your physician should inject 20 units (1/5 of an entire vial) in the glabellar region between the brows

– Dr. Chynn will give you the ENTIRE DOSE for best results!

• Dosage amount is not based on the # syringes used!– Dr. Chynn follows Allergan directions on dilution:

• 2.5 mL sterile saline for entire vial = 100 units Botox

• each 0.5 mL syringe = 20 units Botox
