China's medical device market is large, rapidly growing, fragmented, dominated by foreign manufacturers via WOFE, JV and imports. There are more than 16,000 manufacturers in China. Total production of medical devices was $24 billion in 2012. 67% of medical devices consumed in China were imported in 2012. Imported U.S. medical devices comprised 21% of China's total consumption in 2012. China's per capita medical device consumption was as low as $14 in 2012.
