SCS believes that people with hearing impairment should have access to communication support services for as long as a person wants to improve their communication. SCS measures success in terms of functional communication outcomes: increased independence in the community, access to communication experiences, increased opportunities for socialization, improved relationships and a generally improved sense of self.

Aural Re/habilitation services for individuals with hearing impairment are designed to help achieve these outcomes via the following:

Identification of specific, real-world communication obstacles;

Collaboration with family, educators and natural supports;

Development of specific listening, spoken language and compensatory strategies;

Community advocacy, education and support in specific contexts identified as relevant to the individuals and family members with hearing impairment.
