There are growing needs in our community

Over 1,700 children are identified as homeless by the Fairfax County public schools

20% of households in Fairfax County fall at or below 200% of the poverty level

In Fairfax County 8% of children under age 5 live in poverty.

Response to our community needs Connections for Hope was developed in

response to the growing needs of our community

Connections for Hope is a grassroots initiative by the community for the community

Partners worked together to open Connections for Hope on March 15, 2010

Mental health, development, and alcohol or drug abuse support

Helping Children Worldwide (umbrella organization)Supports Connections for Hope and two programs in Sierra Leone

Jeannie Schmidt Free ClinicQuality health services to uninsured low-income residents

Just NeighborsImmigration legal services to low-income immigrants and refugees

Literacy Council of Northern VirginiaBasic skills of reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English

Reston InterfaithForeclosure and homelessness prevention as well as other services

Vecinos Unidos/Neighbors UnitedHomework assistance to students in grades 1st through 6th

Community | Collaboration | Results Entire communities benefit from having skilled,

healthy, and educated citizens

Access to an integrated array of services that foster self-sufficiency, good health, and education to our community

Members of our community can begin to envision for themselves and their families a life filled with hope, a world where they have the opportunity to succeed
