Pain could be- Physical-Emotional-Psychological
Pain can be Acute or ChronicCertain types of pain are referred to as syndromes.
For instance, myofascial pain syndrome refers to pain that is set off by trigger points located in the body's muscles. Fibromyalgia is an example.
Pain protects humans by warning of harmful processes. people protect themselves from burns, bruises and wounds
Reflexes, regulated at the level of spinal cord, protect by removing a body part away from danger
Emotional arousal, which is experienced as distress or fear of personal experiences, past or present.
Fear, person restrict movements, which in turn promotes healing of the injury resulting from that pain
Function of Pain
When a body part is damaged, nerve endings send a signal to the brain containing information about the nature of the damage
But no pain is felt until the brain interprets this information and decides that pain would be a good way to encourage you to take action that will help protect and heal the damage.
Only the Brain Can Activate Pain
What Causes Fibromyalgia?
The cause of fibromyalgia is not known. Those affected experience pain in response to stimuli that are normally not perceived as painful.
Researchers have found elevated levels of a nerve chemical signal, called substance P. Nerve cells communicate with one another through neurotransmitters.
The onset of fibromyalgia has been associated with psychological distress, trauma, and infection
Substance P is one such neurotransmitter. It is a protein found in the brain and spinal cord, and is associated with some inflammatory processes in the joints. Its function is to cause pain. Substance P has been implicated in pain syndromes such as:low back painfibromyalgiaArthritis
Fibromyalgia Tender Points
Fibromyalgia "tender points" are localized areas of the body that are tender to light touch, are commonly found around the elbows, shoulders, knees, hips, back of the head, and the sides of the breastbone.
The pain of fibromyalgia is generally widespread, involving both sides of the body. Pain usually affects the neck, buttocks, shoulders, arms, the upper back, and the chest
As mentioned earlier, the pain in fibromyalgia is not caused by tissue inflammation
Conditions That Mimic FibromyalgiaAs mentioned, no simple blood test or X-ray can tell you if you have fibromyalgia. Because many medical conditions can cause pain in different areas of the body, your doctor may still want to do blood tests or X-rays to rule out illnesses that mimic fibromyalgia.
What Is the Treatment for Fibromyalgia?
Although there is no cure for fibromyalgia, treatment can relieve some of the symptoms.
Treatment programs are most effective when they combine patient education, stress reduction, regular exercise, and medications.

What Is the Outlook for Patients With Fibromyalgia?
The outlook for patients with fibromyalgia is generally quite good.
It is important to note that fibromyalgia is not an organ-threatening illness.
Those patients with an approach to treatment that involves optimal understanding of the condition, as well as sleep improvement, stress reduction, and exercise, tend to do best.
Life without pain could really hurt you.
Pain is not something that most of us would count as a blessing.
The Gift of Pain
Pain is an indicator that lets us know that something is wrong
Indeed, pain is a gift that none of us want and yet none of us can do without it.
Fortunately at Seclairer we offer and practice most of these treatment modalities
