1) Classification on the basis of impression techniques.
2) Classification on the basis of setting properties/Easticbehavior.
3) Classification on the basis of viscosity.
1. MUCOSTATIC IMPRESSION TECHMIQUE:
The technique in which the impression material is fluid enough to flow and does
not displace the oral tissues.
THESE INCLUDE
1) Impression plaster.2) Agar Agar impression material.
3) ZnO Eugenol impression pastes.4) Light body elastomers.

2 MUCOCOMPRESSIVE IMPRESSION TECHNIQUE:
The technique in which the impression material is viscous and are able to
compress the oral tissues on insertion in the patient ‘s mouth.
THESE INCLUDE
1) Impression compound.
2) Viscous alginate.
3) R,H,P consistences of elastomers.
ON THE BASIS OF SETTING
PROPERTIES/ELASTIC BEHAVIOR
Classified into 3 types.
1) High viscosity.
2)Medium viscosity.
3) Low viscosity.
