Facts of Egg Donation Every Woman when born has an ovarian reserve of at least 2 million eggs and normally an adult Menstruating woman will produce a healthy egg every month. But some women have poor quality eggs or no eggs at all. It’s sometimes impossible for these women to become pregnant or carry their pregnancies to term. In such a scenario most women nowadays consider other reproductive options including the use of donor eggs. If an infertile couple cannot be helped through procedures such as in vitro fertilization/intra cytoplasmic sperm injection because of poor quality eggs or genetic or chromosomal abnormality, they may want to consider using donor eggs. Donor eggs- and sometimes donor embryos- allow an infertile woman to carry a child of her own and give birth. The use of donor eggs in an ivf setting is becoming more common, especially among women over 35. Finding and Choosing an Egg Donor Egg donation as per norms is anonymous, but some couples prefer to know their egg donor and take legal steps to contract for the donation of the eggs. An egg donor contract that explicitly spells out the terms of any future relationship should always be used, even when the donor is close friend or relative. Some commissioning parents for ivf and surrogacy insist on finding a donor themselves and at our clinic we allow this. Today 15 percent of all married couples in the age group of 21 to 35 are infertile. Infertility is particularly painful for women, a loss of not just the child but of the experience of pregnancy as well.

Finding and Choosing an Egg Donor

Egg donation as per norms is anonymous, but some couples prefer to know their egg donor and take legal steps to contract for the donation of the eggs.

Surrogacy offers a faster solution to female infertility than the traditional adoption; in some cases it provides the infertile couple their only chance to have their own genetic offspring
