Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) for
Hair Restoration in Singapore
Low-Level Laser Therapy has given impressive results.
Completely painless, it's much milder than aesthetic
lasers and penetrates only to a superficial level. By
stimulating the hair follicles, it "wakes up" those that
are in their hibernation stages; simultaneously, it
increases blood supply to encourage hair growth. See
photo below.
Further, laser therapy is the only FDA approved
method for hair growth that is not a drug/medication,
and it has no side effects.

and it has no side effects.
If you are interested about this hair regrowth
treatment, here are basic facts that you need to know
before getting Low Level Laser Therapy.
1. What is Low Level Laser Therapy?
Low Level Laser Therapy or LLLT is a treatment that
makes use of a series of laser diodes that can deliver
cool laser energy to the scalp tissue. It is used in skin
rejuvenation treatments but it can also aid in the
improvement of hair loss. What makes this particular
laser treatment different from other is that it does not
produce any heat because it only delivers a spectrum of
light from the red part of the light range which is
actually cooler. This same property also allows the laser
to penetrate up to the follicular level to stimulate a
better microcirculation, cellular metabolism, and
protein synthesis.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
2. Does LLLT really work?
This hair loss treatment is actually an FDA approved
treatment which is a result of various research and
studies. It has been proven that the red light spectrum
can effectively stop hair loss, stabilize it, and regrow
hair.
3. Who is a good candidate for this treatment?
This treatment is recommended for men and women
who are in the early stages of hair loss. Please see
illustration below. Both Type 1 and Type 2 for male and
female pattern baldness may characterize as early
stages of hair loss (Please refer to the images below).
However, it is recommended that you confirm this
information with your doctor, every hair loss stages
may differ for different patients.

LLLT may not recommend for pregnant women, those
who have active skin cancer, glaucoma, cataracts, and
retinal detachment. It is not also advisable to those are
extremely sensitive to light, and for individuals who
have an active herpes infection or cold sores on the
area to be treated.
4. Is the treatment painful?
What makes this treatment appealing to many is the
fact that it is virtually painless. Many people may
cringe at the thought of having laser lights directed
towards the head with searing heat, but LLLT does not
provide this type of action. It uses a very low energy
wavelength which is actually non-thermal.
5. Are there any side effects to this treatment?
After the years of research that are performed by
doctors it has been found that LLLT does not pose any
negative effects.
<Page 5>
FDA classifies this type of
treatment to require minimum
safety precautions or what is
also called a “non-significant
risk” product. But if there is any
important instruction it’s that
one should not stare directly
into the laser beam.
6. If I am already using
Propecia or Rogaine, can I
still use LLLT?
Yes, it is actually safe to still use LLLT even if you are
already taking oral medications for hair loss. In fact
this can even improve the results.
7. Is LLLT also effective for women?
Yes, LLLT can be used for both sexes. Since hair loss
in women takes on a more diffused nature, the precise
action of the laser can target the problem areas even
better.

8. How soon can one experience results?
There are many factors that can determine how
soon a person will notice the results. This includes
the degree of hair loss and how long they have been
experiencing it. But generally, a reduction in the
progress of hair loss can be visible in two to three
weeks’ time. Some may take 6 weeks comprising
10-12 treatments before they see any improvement.
9. Can I still use LLLT even if I already had a hair
transplant?
Many doctors actually promote the use of LLLT
after a hair transplant. The improvement in
circulation allows for better recovery and hair
growth. It is indeed a good adjunct treatment for
hair loss.
