Modern Nursing Scrubs & Nursing Uniforms With the progress of technology and advancement of medical science, the use of various medical apparatus as well as medical uniforms have also undergone several transformations especially during the second half of last century. Earlier it was only meant for the doctors and those who closely assisted them or nurses who used to take active care of the ailing patients. But with time these things have gradually changed and at present in any healthcare profession you get to see people following a particular dress code. Bit of research informs us that it is post the 19 th Century when nursing profession came into the mainstream of medical scenario and thus the innovation of all the nursing uniforms such as; medical dresses, long skirts, trousers, medical scrubs etc started happening. Film and glamour industry may be the only realm where you see the boom of costume designing like anything but the modern professional scenario also indicates the fact that, whatever profession you may be dealing with, you have to keep up with some kind of costume ethics. Not only in the OT or during the day-to-day ward visits that a nurse needs to wear full uniforms, rather all through the duty hours’, nursing personnel needs to maintain the organization dress code properly. It’s indeed heartwarming to know that nurses, nowadays, are playing different types of inspiring roles and as a result the use of various nursing scrubs and uniforms are increasing very rapidly. The shops and particularly various online scrub selling companies are coming up in huge numbers. Nursing is not only a noble profession but these are busy professionals and unlike most other jobs, while you are into any healthcare service sector, you can never afford to ease for long. Moreover we must never forget the fact that nurses deal with lives and therefore it must always be given highest priority. An extensive range of nursing uniforms are found today in the market. Medical professionals- from doctors to nurses to even the lab assistants- now have the option to pick the preferred one from a whole variety of medical garments of different shape, size and color. Doctors do have their own color preferences but my personal experience says that men mostly remain formal and generally wear green, white or blue colored scrubs. On the other hand women nurses and healthcare professionals have tried their hands in changing colors of medical garments and thanks to that today you even get to see colorful medical clothing which is a sort of good thing. Change is always welcome but it should never go over the top. As far as the types of these medical uniforms are concerned, I would just give you a friendly advice; as a medical professional you should select quality over style. Yes, you do go through styles but as the nurses need to work in various conditions tirelessly for hours, it’s better to wear something that is long lasting yet maintains the dignity of a profession such as nursing.
