Prior to my weight loss journey I hated working out. I considered myself a “girly girl” and hardly ever exercised

I just hated physical activity

I had a lot of things going on in my life and I was just trying to figure myself out.

2008 was a year full of change. I began Collage in the spring and so did my

horrible eating habits and lack of any sort of exercise

2009 wasn’t any better. From the stress of school, constantly eating junk food and my person life, my weight only went up from there

I guess you can say I turned my back on my health. Oblivious to how much weight I was gaining, I continued to eat because it made me happy. I could see and feel the difference but didn’t want to believe it.

My self esteem was next to nothing and I didn’t know where to begin. I hated taking pictures of myself and I even stopped look at myself in the mirror because I was so ashamed.

In my mind, if I couldn't see it then it really wasn’t true. I felt trapped, lost and alone with really no one to turn to

Now don’t get me wrong. I wasn’t a depressed person and I had lots of friends and family in my life. I just didn’t know how to show them that I needed help

Change was just around the corner

Finally in February of 2011, I came out of a long term relationship, started my new career in nursing and realized that I needed to make another big change.

That become the commitment to a healthier/happier me!

I began to write EVERYTHING down, from my short to long term goals, as well as my plans on reaching them.

I improved my diet and started working out 5-6 days a week

I was seeing results and fast! This only motivated me to do better and continue to loose even more weight

By July 2011 I had lost + 40lbs!So, I got myself a tattoo to symbolize my growth and hard work

Everyday was a constant struggle but I knew that I had come so far and it could only get better from here

2011 came and went in a blink of an eye and I had lost +45lb :D I created new goals for 2012 so I could continue with my journey

February marked one year since I began my weight loss journey and I just couldn’t believe that I stayed motivated and did this all on my own. Not to mention I was 50lbs lighter!

At this point loosing weight wasn’t something I HAD to do but something I loved to do

To celebrate my big 5-0 weight loss and my 22nd birthday, I went to the Dominican Republic with my best friend.

We had such a blast and I finally started to feel comfortable in my own skin

April 2012The next 2 months to follow my vacation, my weight fluctuated. I was pretty much at a plateau but I was ok with it because I knew my body had to get to that point

I really started to focus on toning during the month of May because I was so used to only doing cardio, I knew I needed to implement some strength training

By July I was 60lbs down and in the best shape of my life

Now that I have reached and surpassed my goals, all I can say is I’m so proud of myself.

I worked extremely hard, made no excesses, and assured myself everyday that I could do this.

I owe it all to Jesus, my family ,and friends; without them I wouldn’t have been able to push through or even continued to dry my tears when I doubted myself

I also appreciate the non believers in my life. They made me stronger and ultimately pushed me to work harder

At the end of the day I hope that this helps and inspires somebody out there.

Weight loss does not happen overnight and will never be easy.

Having a positive attitude, support and guidance is what will essentially lead you to success

This is a life long change that I committed myself to so…My journey does not end here! It has really just begun
