What is a pediatrician?• Diction: a physician who specializes in pediatrics.• Pediatrics: the branch of medicine concerned with

the development, care, and diseases of babies and children.

• Well basically a pediatrician is a form of doctor that works with children

Pediatricians’ Duty• Pediatricians focus on the physical, emotional,

and social health of infants, children, adolescents, and young adults from birth to 21 years

• They diagnose diseases, infections and injuries. • Pediatricians provide preventative health

maintenance for children that are healthy• They also provide medical care and treat children

who are already ill.

How long is the process?

• It takes about twelve whole years to become a registered pediatrician

• 4 years of undergraduate• 4 years of medical school• And then you will chose what type of pediatric

you want to accomplish and do residency for 3 years

• 1 year of internship• In addition the student is required to take the

MCAT in order to get admitted into medical school

How to prepare for medical school in high school

• In order to prepare for medical school it is suggested for you to take advantage of the rigorous courses during high school.

• For example take Honor and AP classes.• Preferably Calculus, Biology, and Chemistry• It is important to start early so you can be

informed on some background knowledge and so you can be prepared for what is expected
