INTRODUCTION : The biological and biophysical aspect of

fixed reconstructions have received much attention , starting with the experimental work of the scandinavian periodontal research community .

The practical implications of biological principles for recontructive dentistry sometimes conflict with the patient subjective feelings about esthetics .

PREPARATORY PROCEDURES : Biological principles must guide both the

preparation of the abutment tooth destined to receive a crown and the chioice of the dental materials to be used in the procedures .

If acceptable periodontal conditions are to be achieved and maintained after cementation of a reconstruction , it is important that gingival inflamation or even periodontics be sucessful treated and eliminated before the prosthetic reconstruction has begun . Too often , the prognosis of the succesefully completed periodontal therapy is rendered questionable by prothetic tretment that follows it .

PREPARATION OF ABUTMENT TEETH :

Rotating intruments used beneth the gingival margin traumatize the gingival tissue even the epithelial attachment , and subjacent connective tissue .
