This type of stomach cancer is very rare and starts in the cells of stomach wall called interstitial cells of Cajal. Can also be found anywhere in the digestive tract.

This type of stomach cancer develops from hormone making cells of the stomach.

Around 3% of the cases are of carcinoid tumor.
