Urethritis

• Inflammation of urethra

• Caused by bacterium or virus

Causes

• Herpes simplex virus

• E.coli in urethra

• Other bacterium

• Chlamydia

• Gonorrhoea

NGU(Non gonococcal)

• Any urethritis that is not caused by gonorrhoea

Symptoms (males)

• Blood in urine or semen

• Pain ejaculating

• Painful urination

• Itching

• Discharge

Symptoms (female)

• Pelvic discomfort

• Stomach pain

• Fever and chills

• Discharge

• Itching

Prevention

• Practice safe sex

• Avoid chemicals in area

• Good hygiene

• No risky sexual behaviour (multiple partners)

• Advised to drink cranberry juice
